About

A mathematician by training, I am now interested in the mathematically rich areas of machine learning, conducting research that aims to benefit both theoreticians and practitioners.

My key research areas are geometric learning and uncertainty quantification. My work in these areas has won best-paper-type awards at top machine learning conferences twice.

Having received the ETH Zürich Postdoctoral Fellowship, I am currently a postdoc at the Learning & Adaptive Systems Group of ETH Zürich led by Prof. Dr. A. Krause. In early spring 2025, I am to join the University of Edinburgh as a tenured lecturer (asst. prof.) in machine learning.

I received my PhD in harmonic analysis from the St. Petersburg Department of Steklov Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences (PDMI RAS) in 2022, advised by Prof. S. V. Kislyakov. I was also co-mentored by Prof. M. A. Lifshits in Gaussian processes.

On a personal note, I am happily married to Ekaterina Noskova, a researcher in bioinformatics.

Call for Students

I am looking for a student to fill a fully-funded Ph.D. position in ML at the School of Informatics, the University of Edinburgh, one of the top computer science departments globally [1, 2].

If you are passionate about geometric learning or uncertainty quantification, please apply by emailing me your CV and a brief statement of interest, with [phd-appl] in the subject line.

Application Deadline: December 15, 2024. The ideal start date would be in September 2025.
